Project Summary:
SoftSpace, a full-service company specializing in tradeshow displays, needed a new facility to consolidate its operations. Their work includes creating, assembling, and shipping custom tradeshow exhibits with capabilities for art, design, metalwork, woodworking, and assembly. KCS Building Group transformed a 60,000-square-foot building in the Cherry Glen Industrial Park in Mount Pleasant into a fully functional facility, featuring a 2,500-square-foot office space and manufacturing areas tailored to their needs.
What The Client Wanted:
SoftSpace’s growing operations had outgrown their previous setup, which was spread across multiple locations. They needed a centralized facility that would house everything under one roof, including office space, manufacturing, storage, and assembly areas. Their goal was to create a versatile, functional space to streamline operations and support growth.
What We Did:
KCS Building Group managed the entire interior buildout of the facility, starting with conceptual drawings and working closely with an architect to finalize the design and secure permits. Throughout the project, we adapted the plan to incorporate new ideas and ensure the final result met SoftSpace’s operational needs. Our team handled everything from insulation and electrical systems to specialized spaces for noise and dust control, delivering a space that balanced functionality and efficiency.
Project Highlights:
- Built a high wall reaching nearly 32 feet to isolate the manufacturing area, reducing noise and containing dust.
- Installed foam insulation for temperature control in specific areas, balancing non-climatized and climate-controlled zones.
- Added a bay door and an exterior room to house a dust collection system, complete with ductwork tailored to their machinery.
- Designed and implemented an extensive electrical system with panels throughout to meet the specialized needs of their equipment.
- Created versatile workspaces, including offices integrated within the manufacturing environment, to maximize functionality.
